July 5, 2017
TORONTO, ON (July 5th 2017) - Menkes Developments Ltd. (Menkes) is pleased to announce that the company’s commercial property management division, Menkes Property Management Services Ltd., has been recognized by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) with an international TOBY Award for the Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex in the City of Mississauga.
The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards are the most prestigious and comprehensive programs of their kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing quality in buildings and rewarding excellence in building management. The Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex was recognized last year as the Best Canadian Industrial Office Building by BOMA Canada, thus qualifying it for consideration at the international award level in 2017. The TOBY Awards were presented at the BOMA International Conference in Nashville, TN, on June 27, 2017.
As the proud recipient of the international TOBY Award in the Industrial Category for the Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex, Menkes Property Management Services is being recognized for the highest quality in building standards, community impact, tenant relations, energy conservation, environmental, regulatory and sustainability standards, and training of building personnel. During the awards competition, all facets of a building’s operations are thoroughly evaluated. Entries are judged on everything from community involvement to environmental and sustainability management.
“Congratulations on this impressive award,” said Peter Bowie, Director of Operations at Traffic Tech, a valued tenant at the Kennedy Matheson property. “We find Menkes consistently going above and beyond to promote sustainability and engage in events to support the local community. It’s an honour to be a part of the Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex, and to see it receive recognition at the international level through BOMA.”
The Menkes property management team at the Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex hosts health and safety, tenant appreciation, and environmental events throughout the year as an effective way to communicate and stay connected with tenants. Menkes provides bike racks for tenants who cycle to work to support green commuting alternatives, as well as tenant health and well-being. The on-site property management team also employs a number of building and sustainability programs related to integrated pest control, waste management, building exterior & hardscape management, and a green purchasing policy to reduce the impact on the environment.
“As the recipient of this prestigious award I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the tremendous support received from our tenants at the complex throughout this whole process, winning at the local, national and now the international level,” said Elena Muto, General Manager at Menkes for the Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex. “At Menkes we are proud of the achievements we have made and our continued commitment to conducting business in a professional and environmentally-conscious manner.”
Located at 5655 Kennedy Road and 550 & 570 Matheson Boulevard East in the City of Mississauga, the Kennedy Matheson Industrial Complex is comprised of three buildings with a total area of 624,000 square feet. The property has been 100% leased for eight consecutive years and features a desirable combination of direct access to major highways, as well as proximity to Toronto Pearson International Airport.
