About The Job

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for our Commercial Property Management Division. The Mobile Building Operator role is a key member of the Team overseeing the property and building operations management of a premiere Suburban Industrial and Urban Retail portfolio. The primary focus of the role will be to perform general preventative maintenance and corrective repairs within the portfolio of assigned properties. The role has geographic coverage for GTA East (Vaughan to Whitby).

Responsibilities

On a day-to-day basis, the key responsibilities of the Mobile Building Operator include but are not limited to:

  • Perform property inspections and maintenance, start-up/shutdown of building equipment as required or directed by management.
  • Assist with supervision of construction projects and inspection of work completed by various trades, assist with tenant move-in and move-out inspections and meet with contractors onsite to obtain quotes.
  • Perform minor plumbing and electrical repairs as required, such as but not limited to: cleaning up after minor floods, replacing fittings and faucets, clearing sinks, toilets and drains, including roof drains, resetting breakers, cleaning electrical fixtures, and replacing bulbs and lamps.
  • Complete various preventive maintenance tasks, such as but not limited to: filter changes, belt replacements, lubrications, cleaning of utility rooms, ceiling tiles replacements, minor drywall repairs and painting.
  • Able to independently plan work assignments, perform duties with minimum supervision and to assist as a helper in the general maintenance and operation of assigned buildings and grounds.
  • Able to prioritize and track completion of building repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agencies, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Complete maintenance and repair records as required.
  • Provide operations reports and order for necessary tools, supplies and materials as requested by Operations Manager.
  • Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections to the fire alarm systems as required.

Qualifications

To succeed, candidates must possess the following combination of education, experience and skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in Building Operations and/or Facilities Maintenance
  • Completion of post-secondary education
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Solid working knowledge of the OHSA
  • Completion of WHMIS, Lock-Out/Tag-Out; Working at Heights
  • Completion of First Aid with CPR
  • Flexible to respond to after-hours calls and oversee planned work
  • Experience working with hand tools
  • Strong focus on customer service with the ability to communicate clearly both in writing and verbally
  • A self-starter, capable of working with minimum supervision on a daily basis
  • Hands-on experience using MS Office and comfortable with web-based applications, e.g. Angus Anywhere
