The Eglinton

March 28, 2018

Nestled in the heart of Yonge & Eglinton is The Eglinton (161 Eglinton), Menkes’ elegant new condominium project.

As Spring approaches, and this bustling community continues to undergo major changes - including the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT  - our construction team is working hard to keep up with the momentum. We poured concrete for the 29th floor, installed windows up to the 10th floor, and interior framing has commenced on the level three.

Once complete, the 34-storey tower will feature state-of-the-art amenities for residents of all ages including: a billiards room, theatre, party room with gourmet kitchen, fitness studio, a gorgeous rooftop terrace, and a 400-square-foot children’s play room. Menkes was one of the first developers to introduce a play room as a condominium amenity, when the building launched in 2014.

The Yonge & Eglinton community, once referred to as “young and eligible” is now one of the city’s most desirable and vibrant neighbourhoods, suited to any lifestyle. Today the area rivals downtown in terms of food, entertainment and access to transit. It provides the best of both worlds; busy city life on Yonge, combined with quiet residential pockets and parks (Eglinton Park and Sherwood Park).

Transit, shopping, bars and parks are all a stone’s throw from The Eglinton, including some of the best restaurants the city has to offer.  In the past two-three years, new restaurants appear to be popping up monthly. Some of the hot spots include: Mexican restaurant La Carnita, Fresh (for the health-conscious), and Sweet Jesus, a popular ice cream shop. Upscale Italian eatery Buca is slated to open this Spring. All of these restaurants join an eclectic mix of retail in the area. Yonge Street has developed into every shopaholic’s dream, cast with popular retail chains like Club Monaco, Sporting Life, and West Elm (to name a few), and a mix of new boutiques/shops. At the centre of it all, is the newly redeveloped Yonge & Eglinton Centre, anchored by office and retail, with direct access to the Yonge subway line.
