PEDAL + Bike Giveaway
Menkes aims to take a leadership role in making it easier to pedal to work by developing and implementing a Cycle Friendly Building program called PEDAL. The program will launch at One York and 25 York in Toronto’s South Core, and then be rolled out to all of our other office buildings. The PEDAL program is part of a solution to many complex problems, including climate change, traffic congestion, air quality and low physical activity levels.

The objective of the PEDAL program is to encourage and support building occupants cycling to work by ensuring they are aware that the building welcomes cyclists, their bikes and their gear.

The PEDAL initiative is part of Menkes’ commitment to sustainability, healthy living and accessibility for all.

Congratulations to our bike giveaway winner announced in conjunction with the PEDAL program kick off and Bike Month (June).

Menkes Unveils New Bus Shelter At AeroCentre
HOOPP Realty Inc. (HOOPP) and Menkes Property Management Services proudly thanked the AeroCentre workforce with their Annual Employee Appreciation BBQ on July 26th. Much more than burgers and hot dogs, this afternoon of celebration and appreciation gave Menkes, HOOPP, and invited guests an opportunity to meet and speak with partners and employees of the AeroCentre business community.

In conjunction with the BBQ, a new bus shelter was unveiled just north of the AeroCentre property. The bus shelter is an important step in improving transit options for the thousands who work at the ACC, and more specifically the AeroCentre, every day.

Nick Macrae, Senior Portfolio Manager at HOOPP, Noah Gordon, Director of Portfolio Management at Menkes, and Menkes welcomed VIP guests Mayor Bonnie Crombie, Councillors Chris Fonseca, Ron Starr and others for a MiWay tour of the Mississauga Transitway. To commemorate this update to the public transit system, Mayor Crombie and other invited guests participated in the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Transient Topography-Photography Exhibit
In 2013 Paul Casselman was commissioned to photograph the development of One York and Harbour Plaza. The project documented the stages of construction, the work that was done, and the workers themselves over four years. This exhibit came into being as One York Street and Harbour Plaza’s section of the PATH opened to the public.

The photography exhibit titled Transient Topography: High-rise Construction as Landscape is currently on display in the PATH system, where it connects to One York on the second floor and was part of the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival.
